GT, The Ortofon GT Cartridge is an extremely sturdy cartridge for the scratching DJ's. Ideal for turntablist and competing against the Shure M447.
This new cartridge has been named GT "Great and Tough" and it is based on the construction of the well-known Ortofon Series 500 design - mend for a standard half inch mounting - in a black housing with white painting.
The Vital parts in the GT are based on the very robust and reliable parts used in the Ortofon Scratch cartrige. Further, during developement of this cartridge model, efforts were also concentrated on supplying a very high output voltage of 8mV and simultaneously improve frequency response to give higher resolution and sound image.
Tracking ability is decisive for the DJ's especially when doing scratching and back-cuing. In this situation raise of tracking force could be an immediate, but in many cases not very effective solution. The reason is that the antiskating adjustment, if not at a very moderate level, will double the skating effect when back-cuing. So, as a rule, never use more than half of normal antiskating related to the tracking force.
To make this cartridge even more resistant against violent handling, such as drop on the record or touch of fingers etc. we have made the rubber suspension of the cantilever even more rigid against axial pull.
Field test made on the German market have already proved widespread acknowledgement of these characteristic qualities - besides the vital ability for the GT cartridge to stay in the groove.
